Enjoy learning the basics of canoeing in one evening within the wonderful Toronto Islands.
There’s nothing more Canadian than being able to paddle a canoe. Whether you’re starting a new outdoor activity, hobby, or needing to refresh your paddling skills from the years past, this Evening Introduction to Tandem Canoeing has been designed to satisfy all. The evening will focus on the basic functional skills needed to get you safely started and continue your skill development of this significantly historical pursuit. Learn to launch and land safely, coordinate paddling with another person, pivoting, steering, reverse paddling and stopping. Come out and become part of Canada’s history. Most past participants of this course feel confident enough with their skills to rent a canoe from us when the conditions are appropriately calm. Alternatively, this course has been used as an annual refresher to brush up on the basics.
This course is our most popular class so register early to avoid disappointment. This course is offered per person and while most participants will sign up with a paddling partner, we are happy to pair solo paddlers up.
