This summer time program is a revitalized program, returning by request to help develop and expand basic paddling skills and knowledge for navigation, on and off the water.
This program is intended for those who are new to navigation theory and practical techniques. This program is also for those wanting a solid refresher in the basics of water navigation with an on-water practice and experience component. Join up if you are interested in expanding your knowledge and confidence in basic navigation for paddlers.

What You Will Learn
- Introduction to basic navigation strategies for paddlers with an on-water component
- Introduction to maps, charts & compass
- How to use a compass

Course Prerequisites
- Basic Paddling Skills for on-water component = you have taken lessons and spent some time on the water and have adequate boat control
What to Bring
- Your completed and signed waiver (download the waiver).
- Water/sports drink
- Active clothing you can get wet
- Secure footwear you can get wet
- Extra layers in case it cools off
- A change of clothes and shoes
- Sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses with floater string
- A rain jacket/pants (optional)
- A headlamp, for possible nighttime navigation (optional)

Our Cancelation Policy
To receive a full refund or to switch to another date, we require 7 days notice by email (ask@paddletoronto.com) prior to the start of your program. Exceptions at our discretion. No refunds or reschedules for no shows.
We reserve the right to cancel any program with less than 24 hours notice due to changing weather conditions such as strong winds or thunderstorms. Please check your email for cancellation notices before leaving for your program. In this case, we will try to re-schedule to another date or offer a full refund. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but your safety and well-being on the water is our top priority.
