This program offers similar content to our Canoe Introduction Day 1 and 2 combined, but in a different format. The Beginner Value Package consists of four evening classes and one full day of instruction, running over a 2 week period. The instruction is designed to provide you with basic safety and functional paddling skills for canoeing in relatively calm conditions. Over the five sessions, you will have the opportunity to gain repeated experience and application of the safety and skills being taught. This longer-term learning approach and progression is along with other aspiring paddlers who could become life-long paddling buddies. The Beginner Value Package aims to solidfy your basic canoe paddling skills and will save you money!

Is this program for you? Yes, if you appreciate repeated practice and a steady, lasting progression of your paddling skills …especially if you wish to take young children out to keep everyone safe.

Prerequisite: Curiousity (and time) to learn how to safely paddle a canoe, with other like-minded participants, in the heart of Toronto

  • Basic Functional Tandem Canoe Strokes from both front and rear seats
  • Docking, Portaging
  • Assisted Rescues
  • Some Solo Canoe skills
  • Toronto Island Tour

July 8, 10, 15, 17, 20
Mondays & Wednesdays 5:30-9pm, Sat 9:30-4:30

 Course Prerequisites

  • An interest and curiosity in learning how to safely paddle the watercraft that developed Canada.

 What to Bring

  • Your completed and signed waiver (download the waiver).
  • Snacks (bagged lunch if participating in a full day excursion)
  • Water/sports drink
  • Active clothing you don't mind getting wet
  • Secure footwear you don't mind getting wet
  • Extra layers in case it cools off during the day
  • A change of clothes and shoes
  • Sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses with floater string
  • A rain jacket/pants (optional)

To receive a full refund or to switch to another date, we require 7 days notice by email (ask@paddletoronto.com) prior to the start of your program. Exceptions at our discretion. No refunds or reschedules will be given for no shows.

We reserve the right to cancel any program with less than 24 hours notice due to changing weather conditions such as strong winds or thunderstorms. Please check your email for cancellation notices before leaving for your program. In this case, we will try to re-schedule to another date or offer a full refund. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but your safety and well-being is our top priority.
